Coming as little surprise, the box office this weekend was taken over by the latest horror movie offerings as we embrace the Halloween holiday.
Pulling ahead of the pack, the just released film "Saw 3D" topped theatrical offerings by pacing towards an earnings total of around $28 million.
The seventh "Saw" installment seems to be edging out last week's big winner "Paranormal Activity 2" - which is headed towards a take of $19 million.
Rounding out the estimated top five are "Red" ($9.5 million), "Jackass 3D" ($8.5 million) and "Hereafter" ($6 million).
