MADRID — On Thursday, minutes after rehearsing her performance for Sunday night's MTV Europe Music Awards, Miley Cyrus sat down with MTV News to discuss her plans, both for the big show (think lots of "angels and demons") and another, equally big event: her upcoming 18th birthday.

Given all of the hullabaloo that's been raised in the 24 hours since she sat down with us — Cyrus may have been photographed drinking underage in a Madrid nightclub — we figured that her 18th birthday was sort of newsworthy ... since, well, the legal drinking age in Spain is 18 and all.

And while Miley didn't tell us where she'd be celebrating her 18th (it's November 23 in case you wanted to send a card), she did mention that she hopes her whole family will be with her for the big day, something that's equally newsworthy, given everything that's been going on with her parents, Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus, in recent weeks.

"I'm not going to go crazy; [just] have a fun party and then maybe take a vacation with my family ... because that would be really cool. I think we need time to all be together," she said. "So that would be rad if we could all go to the beach or something. ... [I have] no idea [where we're going]; somewhere near water. I'm a water baby; I have to be near the water and I love doing scuba and going out and being on a boat."

Of course, there are plenty of boats in Spain, but we'd be willing to bet she won't be spending her 18th birthday here or in any other Spanish-speaking country, for that matter, because if there's one thing we've learned from chatting with her during EMA weekend, it's that Spanish most definitely is not her first language, nor her second or third, really.

"I failed Spanish," she laughed. "I'm really, really bad at it. It's not really the words; it's the pronunciation that's the hard part."

How do you think Miley should celebrate her 18th birthday? Tell us your ideas in the comments!

The 2010 EMAs will air on MTV2 on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET, and an edited, performance-heavy version will be broadcast Friday, November 12, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.
